Remove the air adjustment stem assembly.
Using a 9/16" wrench unscrew the assembly from the pump body.
Step 1a
Replace item 4 (o-ring) seal and set aside.
Do not reinstall on the body at this time it must be out of pump body to remove the check seal at a later step. If the check valve is in the body when the check valve is removed it will damage the valve stem.

Remove the hose barb. | |
Replace item 4 (o-ring) on the hose barb and set aside. Do not re-install the hose barb until a later step.
Optional you pump might not have this ratchet clip. if it does remove it by removing items 11 and 12 (ratchet clip and small screws) / set aside.
Remove the stop screw | |
Use caution, with this next step because the knob is under spring tension and will pop out when you unscrew it.
Slowly unscrew the oil adjustment knob to remove it be careful not to damage the knob or spring loaded piston inside.
Important note: Item 10 is calibrated to the specific pump body. Keep the pump body, piston and oil-adjustment knob together.
Optional Step:
There is an o-ring behind a press fitted retaining ring that is very difficult to replace. It is not usually necessary for this o-ring seal to be replaced so we consider it optional.
If you choose to replace this o-ring seal here are some detailed instructions how.
Replace item 4 behind item 14 "difficult"
Remove the piston and spring and set aside
Replace item 1 (large o-ring) on item 10 adjustment knob set aside.
Import remember to keep the adjustment knob with the original body. The adjustment knob is calibrated to the body.
Replace item 2 (u-cup) on the piston base.
Make sure the U side is facing the base bottom not the piston tip. It catches the air and pushes the piston forward towards the tip.
Replace item 5 (O ring) on item 15 (piston) set aside
Using a 3/32 O.D. stem tool, insert into large diameter hole, through piston hole, forcing out items 6 (evac valve), 7 (evac spring), and 14 (o ring) which is held in by the brass oil line sleeve.
Be careful not to damage the inside walls of the pump body with the tool. Do not use a tool larger than the 3/32" and make sure the 3/32" portion is at least 1.5" long. You may use a 3/32" hex wrench to reach inside if you don't have a punch.
| |
With the 3/32" punch tool or hex wrench inserted press against the check seal push or gently strike the tool to push out the check seal assembly which is held in place with the press fit brass oil line sleeve.
Be careful the spring will pop the assembly out when the brass press fit is released.
Replace item 4 (o ring) on item 16 (oil line sleeve).
Re-insert new items 6 & 7 (check seal and spring)
Re-insert item 16, NOTE; press fit with back side of the punch tool, until snug and stays in.
Be careful not to mar or damage the brass with the harder metal tool.
Now that the check seal assembly is back in the pump body.
Re-install the air flow adjustment stem assembly (item 18/19) Tighten with a 9/16" wrench.
Re-install item 17 (only until finger snug).
Make sure you put the o-ring (item 8) back in which will hold the oil tube in place.
Re-install item 15 with new item 3 (return spring).
Re-install item 10 (oil adjustment stem) to stop.
(optional)
Re-install item 11 (ratchet clip) which is optional if your pump has one. Even though there is a machined area for one this clip not all pumps have the clip which was only included on the pump a couple of years during production.
Re-install item 12 stop screw
